Intermediate Birds - Cockatiels w/ Allis Markham

March 8th & 9th
Class is from 10:00am to 6:00pm Saturday and 10:00am to 2:00pm Sunday
$1,625.00

Take the next step in bird taxidermy with this intermediate course. This course is suitable for previous students of Prey who have completed Birds 101 and feel confident in their ability to complete a more difficult specimen. Potential students with other bird taxidermy experience may apply by submitting photos of their work to info@preytaxidermy.com.

This course will be taught by Allis Markham at Prey Taxidermy, in Los Angeles, California. Allis has multiple international awards for her work on small birds including a world title from the World Taxidermy Championships. You can see her work in many museums across the world, including more recently the Smithsonian's Bird House.

Allis will take students through her more advanced small bird techniques, focus on the specifics of the Cockatiel species, and work with each student on a custom pose. This is 'the' class to push your small bird taxidermy to the next level.

In this class, each student will be mounting their own Cockatiel to take home, collected from pet store deaths not related to the art. The skins will be fully prepped for the students, so they are able to completely skip prep and focus on more advanced techniques over the course. Each student will be able to choose their own pose and can bring in a custom base if they choose. Directions and specifications will be emailed to the students a couple of weeks before class.

Prey Taxidermy will provide all supplies, tools & specimens for your classes. Students will be given a PDF of each step, supply lists, tools lists, and resources that might help them on their taxidermy journey.  Each student will also receive a finishing kit with grooming supplies.

This is an intensive taxidermy class, so be prepared to work and focus. We ask that this class be attended only by students 18 years or older—though exceptions may be made under certain conditions—email info@preytaxidermy.com for details or if you're interested in attending as a younger person.

Students may leave a 50% deposit on this class. Simply enter the code 'BIRDDEPOSIT2025' at checkout. We will contact you to pay your balance on or before February 10th, 2025. If you would like to pay your remaining balance before February 10th, you can use the link here: Remaining Balance.
